Just as an added observation , the word Melita if memory is correct is the old Arabic word for Malta. JS

    Hello David,
Doesn't really bring much to the party but my Dad was a Deck Boy on Kildonan Castle (one of the Union Castle ships) He first went to sea as a 16 year old and his trip from Southampton to South Africa on K.C. was 9th June - 31st July 1922 when he had just turned 17. Master was Benjamin Chave.
    regards

    Great thank you.
Must say, you guys on this site really are the best. With all this info, I should be able to piece together my father in law's service record in the Merchant Navy. He died in 1973/74 and had Parkinson's Disease for a very long time before he died and never spoke much about his time as a seaman although my wife remembers him telling her once that he had spent sometime in the far east as well as on ships travelling all over the globe!

    Hi David,

I'm also looking for information on an Albert Edward Turner as he is the father of my Grandfather but we have very little information about him. Could I ask what your wife's name is? My grandfather was called Peter.

    Thanks,

    Charlotte
