Now once you get these Documents and those of Mr Thompson as well, you can then cross reference them, and see if the Ship or possibly Ships match up with each other.
This way you can be certain that it is the correct person.
Cheers

Re: Searching for my biological father.
Amberine
I feel sure that I have found him ,this all ties up with age and place of Birth as far as I can guess anyway!
His Initials were actually F P Thompson Born in Tavistock Devonshire Born 1940 just slightly Younger than your Mum. Here is his Seamans Pouch .
Again I will have to look for his CRS10 which will hold the Ships etc,and from there one can then trace through the Voyage Record Cards where the Ships went.
Here again one must take a Punt as without that you will never know!
But as said I feel sure this will be him.

Re: Searching for my biological father.
Well I hope that this info can be taken now and put to good use.
As said the only way now is to get those Documents and marry them up.
Then the Voyage Record Cards would be the next step,if you want to see where the Ship went in that Particular Year.
There could also be Crew Lists for that ship at the Archive Section of the University of New Foundland Canada. That is where many get their Crew lists from now!
As said any questions just ask and we will try and assist
Cheers

Re: Searching for my biological father.
Hello Doc, hope this finds you well. I have found out that my mother and Mr Thompson was on the Rangitane 1963/64.
Alistair Rae was on it from 4/11/63-2/3/64 so it means Sheila was on it at the same time ( June 63- March 64), which in turn means Mr Thompson was as well.
I am still waiting for the birth certs at the moment but I will search the crew lists on this ship and hopefully I will find the information I need.
All the best and much thanks
Amberine

Re: Searching for my biological father.
Hi Des, yes Sheila was on the Rangitane June 63 - march 64. I don't suppose you know her or anyone who was on that ship at that time?
Thank you
