Re: Missing Person Ronald Larry Lane
I would like to publicly thank Marian Gray who spent many hours researching & who many times kept me going when I thought it was a hopeless case.
Unfortunately Greg the Lady is no longer with this site. But very kind of you to post that!
Possibly someone who may be in contact with her will convey the message.
Glad of your progress
Cheers

Re: Missing Person Ronald Larry Lane
Hi John,
Thanks. Yes I have been using Trove newspaper search extensively. That is how I found that he had returned to NSW with someone looking for him as Ronald Hector Lambert Lane in 1941. I now know that his real surname is Sharpe, but his alias must have been known to some. We are hoping that DNA will give us a match with his family (he had a half-brother, a brother, a sister & possibly another sister).

Re: Missing Person Ronald Larry Lane
Hi to all those who have helped with this search.
I am in Scotland at the moment but the search has gone on.
We have now been able to locate family of my cousin Joy both through family tree search & DNA matching.
We hope to resolve what happened to Ronald Hector Lambert Sharpe, aka as Ronald Larry Lane within the next week or so. What a journey.
Greg
Re: Missing Person Ronald Larry Lane

Re: Missing Person Ronald Larry Lane
Hi to all who have taken an interest in this quest to find what happened to my cousin's father.
The latest information that we have uncovered is that Ronald Larry Lane aka Ronald Hector Lambert Sharpe (his birth name) aka Roland Hector Sharpe aka Robert Hector Sharpe moved to the USA probably in 1944 & was married again in 1946 under the name Roland Hector Sharpe. Elements of the signature on this second marriage certificate match those on the marriage certificate he signed with my Aunty & we are sure the it is him given the other correlations on the marriage certificate.
He was not a very clever fellow as he used the real names of his father & mother on the 2nd certificate but lied about their location (USA not Sydney, Australia) & his birthplace (New Jersey, USA, not London, England. I guess that one could get away with that in those days of no interconnections of security information. He had a USA social security number so the security checks for that must have been lax as well. Most interestingly, in his application for a marriage licence he gave his name as Robert Hector Sharpe yet on the marriage certificate it was Roland Hector Sharpe. Not sure what the marriage celebrant was thinking.
His occupation whilst on ships was fireman & he transferred these skills to work as a fireman on the railroad in Chicago.
In any case this marriage failed as well with his 2nd wife filing for divorce in 1951. The trail has gone cold again & we cannot find what happened to him after that. We are assuming that he changed his name once more & left his 2nd wife in the same way he left his first wife. Chasing this guy is like trying to catch an eel, but there is a certain satisfaction when we uncover his latest guise. Not sure if we will be able to follow him to the grave but it has been quite a journey so far.
My thanks to all that have helped.
