I would like to know when he signed up for the Merchant Navy and the ships he was on, if that is possible. Many thanks for the help He was on the SS Tia Juana of London, and the U-Boat U-502 was the one that torpedoed them February 16, 1942. Adding now as the information has just been found and I need to look at something else. Alison maybe able to confirm or not ? Possibly if the wedding was this way Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales. We could be looking at: 1927 Herbert J Moore / Hilda W Wakely 1937 John Moore / Hilda W Richards Still need more leads to discover more. I will look tomorrow at, he may have fibbed about his age and joined up tail end of WW1 ? Keith.

John born 7 October 1902, born Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Sometimes it comes up as Loch. Isle of Lewis. - - - Updated - - - Thank you - - - Updated - - - It is the 1937 marriage to Hilda W Richards. I have known only she was from Ely,Cardiff. Do not know where they were married. Sorry. - - - Updated - - - He was married 1937 to Hilda W. of Ely Cardiff. Do not know whereabouts. I have found it hard to find out more. His father was the famous lighthouse keeper, Joseph Moore of the Flannan Isle Mystery, he was the relief lighthouse keeper at the time, and he was the one that went ashore and found all three lighthouse keepers missing.
