Re: Trying to get information on a cousin John Maciver, born 1921, died on S.S.Baron Erskine
What does the card type CR2 mean? discharge number R? He had to have joined up again for his ill-fated tour on the SS Baron Erskine. When reading about the ship and the bad coal, it is heartwarming to read. This is only one cousin that died on a ship that was torpedoed, I have 2 more cousines, all by different U-Boats, I am going to try and get more information on as well, Will do it on seperate threads for sure. Want to find all I can on John first.
Re: Trying to get information on a cousin John Maciver, born 1921, died on S.S.Baron Erskine
The CR2 is just the term used to id his documents as is say the CRS10 it hold various info
The R prefix is also just a Prefix of Discharge Numbers used in Discharge Books etc! Is that last post the same person with different R Number?
See various Pics here

Yes very sad that story, and that poor boy only 16 William Elder, He was the youngest that died on the boat, and the oldest was 61. Just heartbreaking.
