My Dad said he is almost certain he had no middle name just Joseph Banor, however, he said most people called him Jack, he said he didn't talk much about his Naval career but he did tell the kids he was sunk twice and obviously survived both, he said he is sure P&O was never mentioned but Manchester Liners was, but my dad does not have the greatest memory.

I think so, although the site i was on didn't have any birth details just a name and rank :-( is 8/11/21 his birth date? If so its not him.

Thank you though, i am starting to think this whole Navy was a tall tale that my Grandad told the kids.

    I will keep searching.

    Thank you

Yes that is what I thought as regarding the DOB.
    cHEERS

One sure way of sorting this issue is for you or someone to get to Kew and chech the CRS10 Record for the name. It will be a Series of names covering his .so will have to just look in the correct section!

There is also a J Bonnar listed as Able Seaman Royal Naval Volounteer Reserve
Born 1917 Sevice Number Clyde/Z/7691 ???? Just possibly another spelling of the name ?

    The Plot thickens Louisa! LOL

    Hi Louisa.
If he was on the Andalucia Star. This is what happened to her.
Adalucia Star attacked and torpedoed by U boat 107 Capitan Hareir Gelhaus on the 7th Oct 1942. see picture below.
PS. two men on board that might connect name wise, were Joseph Burtley or Sydney George Bicheno

    Cheers Des
