Re: Help Needed - My Grandfather
Hi Louisa, I'm over the 7,000 mark in photographs now what a tree, I've started so I'll finish:)
I did look at various spellings of the surname but always Joseph as the first name in MN lists, including FMP.
If I remember correctly Joseph had five siblings all with the same parents. If you can furnish me with the other employment he had I will check passenger lists too. Also second wives names, you can do this by pm if you don't want to broadcast here. Will be back before midnight.

I could previously add links here, now yes you have to sign up.
It is free and a very useful medium.
I searched for the surname and found much that may be off interest.

Re: Help Needed - My Grandfather
Well Louisa if I thought your grandfather was hard to locate, Cassell Emile is an enigma, :p Short of raiding the tree of S Morris, may I suggest you ask him where he got his info from, can only presume details were verbally passed down:) Doc/Keith may be able to advise if or how you go about sourcing Royal Navy records if at all. If you have a birth date for his second wife, Ruth Saffer, American born? I'll have another look. Marian
Re: Help Needed - My Grandfather
Hi Marian.
As you have him in Canada at some time he may have joined the Canadian MN. Wheel may have been Quarter master hence the whites. None of the ships you mention are recorded as sunk.
Cheers Des
Re: Help Needed - My Grandfather
#19, Hello lovely, I didn't mention any ships that actually sailed or Canadian MN! ;) I did several world wide searches down different avenues which if the ancestry sites have, they will present said records. The problem here is the variation in spelling the surname and perhaps also father & son not wanting to be traced. US records are usually in abundance especially in tax and census records but not for these chaps. Will of course try again if Louisa can ask her dad for any other snippets.:)
I do beg your pardon Des, :tr_oops:my mistake just saw the Canadian line mentioned. Had dismissed that because it was not during WW2. Will check that out tomorrow for Louisa....it's been a long day, off now for to sleep.
Just had a look Des at the Canadian records, 567 of them so will go through those tomorrow, thanks again.
