Re: Looking for information on john carter
###the wellesly was a school for boys shall we say with approved help needed .....they dressed in royal navy type uniform and were trained for a usfull position as sea going boy ratings ...they were very prominent on ships from the tyne originally as i believe the base was in blyth .......the volvula if i rememer created a stir one winter breaking her moorings and crashing down river doing all sorts of damage with on watchman aboard who was not a happy bunny.....i recall this from my own time as a young seaman........i also sailed on the corfen a collier belonging to cory and son who had a small fleet of this type of vessel and later a couple of larger vessels ...i did not know your father but many good seamen came from the wellesly .......also many seamen had strong relationships with japanese girls as they were very friendly and good company ....sorry but i cannot give you any more info ...but your father would have been a true man of the world and lived a life of good comrades good times hard times and all the excitement a young man would need..... regards cappy from shields.ps ships your father was on can be seen on this site
