Re: Bitter Lakes
Reminds me, between voyages in London I would meet up with a young lady from Ballet Rambert. At a rehearsal in the old Mercury Theatre in Notting Hill Gate she nudged me and said of one of the ballet boys resplendent in his ballet tights, "he's got the biggest b...s in ballet - but snicker they're mostly cotton wool padding".

Re: Bitter Lakes
Hi Marian.
Sorry I made a ghastly mistake there, I'm second from the LEFT no way would I claim that Scottish body of the big redhead second from the right.
My mate and I had re-signed up on the British Guardian in Grenock and had a Scottish, Geordie and Welsh crew, they were terrific.
Cheers Des

Re: Bitter Lakes
MS Nordwind West Germany Nordstern Reederei
MS Münsterland West Germany Hamburg
I can remember those two ships, I had dinner on one of the swedish ships, very modern, air con etc. very friendly crew.
I live in Germany, so I was very surprised one night watching a TV Programm about the Great Bitter Lake Association, so I was most delighted to show my wife my old ship, the Association meet I believe every year, though the numbers are declining. Hamburg I think.

Re: Bitter Lakes
Hi John,
I'm afraid I've been off the site for a while, but my father, Ron Wade, was on the Scottish Star for a few months whilst in the Bitter Lakes and I do have a couple of photos I received from Trevor McKay, who was also on the Scottish Star with my dad. I know it was in 1967 but I'll have to dig up his discharge book to get the exact dates for you. Here are the pictures.
Cheers,
Jacyn

Hello
I am trying to contact Peter Gasson. He recently wrote an article in the Connections magazine about the Suez Canal crisis in 1969. In the
article he had two photographs of my father Chief Officer Philip Hamilton . My mother was extremely moved at seeing these photographs for the very first time.Dad died in 1999 and mum would love to have a copy of the pics plus
anymore that might be available
thankyou

Re: Bitter Lakes
Any advice where to get a list of Scottish Star masters from 1967 to 1975, i.e. Great Bitter Lake ? Or anybody who remembers some? Peter
