Thanks for this update Pete.I attach link about the sale.
http://www.fredolsencruises.com/our-ships/black-prince
Just in case anyone's confused this of course refers to the Fred Olsen's Black Prince(pax/ro-ro,converted to cruise ship,)not the Prince Line cargo ship which was referred to in the original post by Darrell.

RE-M.V. Black Prince
I joined the M.V. Black Prince (registration number186205) in august 1955. She was almost new at the time
having been built at Burntisland shipyard for Furness Withy. She was on the six week Medi run, and used to do alternate runs. If she did an Israeli port she could,nt do any of the Arab ports and vice versa. So she would top up with fruit in Spain.

Black Prince
Hello there Derek,
Long time no see, are you still sailing your narrow boat around the North West.? I had a look on Google maps and saw it at the end of your garden last year. Are you still on Manchester Road, Audenshaw and are you still with Manchester Liners Old Shipmates Assoc.?
I have put a few photos of the Vanguard up that you might not have seen.
All the best.............Alec.

Re: Black Prince
hello Darrell, I was on the black prince in 64/65 (I think)running from west india dock to med. nice short trips about 2 months if I recall right, we kept her clean and tidy..
I was also on the merchant prince in 65 (maybe)66 med and Scandinavia...that was a terrific run, I well recall the good times but not always the year that they occurred. Billy Reid --o.s.

Re: Black Prince
The Black Prince is special to me it is where I met my wif0, I joined the vessel as stand by Third Engineer at Butlers Wharf in December 1967. We(That is the ships officers held two parties) nurses from Guys Hospital and several nights later nurses St Thomas's Hospital - where I met my wife. I later joined the Mv George Peacock has Third Engineer

Re: Black Prince
Ref.#5... There used to be one of Fred Olsens may have been the Venus sailed out of the Tyne to Norway, during the summer months used to go on summer cruises to the Cape Verde Islands I believe and renamed the Black Prince. I stand to be corrected as going back over 50 years. JS
