Re: Port Townsville
Hi.10-08-2018
I did the maiden voyage on the Port Townsville, what luxury it was after coming home from Australia ,on the old coal burner the Port Campbell lots of Ot trimming bunkers, obvious deck hand after coming out of hospital after operation one had left a ship called the Graigwen in Sydney.
Have still got crew photos of us in the mess room having Tab Nabs.
The Townville had a swept back bridge and what a problem it was when it came to painting same as the stages would not slide down the front of the bridge, in Sydney we had to take the decks re corked and then it was HOLLY STONING, then off to Townsville re a special commeration plaque was presented to the ship.
Biggest mistake I made was only doing one voyage on her, remember one of the other deck hands was sitting or studying for his ticket, another always wore a berry A Harry Btler
