    Default Port Fremantle

Hi. My name is Jeff Osborne and I am looking for any info on the ship MV Port Fremantle #149804, with the Captain AG Rhind, way back in 1946. My wife's mother and her first daughter were passengers on her arriving in Liverpool 8th July 1946. Names are Dorothy Mavis Warner and Elin Dawn Warner. I have the incoming passenger list document with this info but was wondering if anyone has any more info please? Like did the vessel call into Fremantle harbour on her way to England? Looks like she departed from Adelaide, but no mention of Fremantle. Thanks.

official number for port Fremantle is #149807 not 149804. national archives Kew have information you require in BT. 26/1225/112. at least it should start the ball rolling. Regards R

Hi Roger. Is the registered tonnage 5243.47 or 5243.43? I bet it's .47 as it is written ecactly the same as the official number. The writer has a funny way of writing 7s. Thanks. I have a picture of her. Just wonder what she is taking passengers as she is a cargo? Only took 11 on the voyage in question.

Hello Jeff if you use the link Doc has posted there will be the answer to most of your Questions, it was the norm on some cargo ships to carry small amounts of passengers and there dogs which were housed in my experience on the boat deck "Dogs" that is. there are lots of lads on here with similar experiences watch this space. Regards R.

Just checked my discharge book and realised I did a HT on the Port Fremantle,
    from Vic Docks 10th Sept 1956 to Newcastle-on-Tyne 16th Sept '56.
it was my last trip on Port Line after 7 years before I went to Beaver Boats.

Thanks for your reply Roger. Just a question what does the term "Dogs" refer to please? I assume its not the animal kind?
