Can I ask, did that bar have white tiles from floor to ceiling, with a wooden shelf running round it? If so, it will bring back loads of memories, as I was only 17 at the time, me and my cabin mate had to sneak ashore, as the "geordy store keeper", had banned us from pubs. So having arrived in the bar, along with other crew members, all went well till a fight started, I dont know what over, but me and Angus only just got out before the cops arrived, and because of all the rumpus, the storekeeper, found out where we had been, did we get a slating off.

    Default Port Townsville

I made two trips on the Townsville as a sixteen year old catering boy. She was a lovely looking ship, beautiful lines. Home trade 30-7-54 to 5-8-54, and deep sea 18-8-54 to 8-1-55.

    Regards, Rodney
