Great britain
This transcript comes from a video sent to me by my sister in UK.
The guy who read it out was not the author but by the conclusion had become emotional about the content.
Enjoy and reply with your comments if you wish.
You want reasons to be proud of Britain, you need a bloody scroll.
This island windswept rain soaked battered and brilliant built the modern world.
From the battlefield to bookshops, medicine to music our legacy is brilliant, and ifyou are not proud of that you are either an uneducated, ungrateful orunworthy of the blood and brilliance that made this country what itis.
We gave the worldNewtons law and Darwin’s theory
Alexandra Fleminggave us Penicillin on British soil and we saved millions of livebefore half the
world knew whatantibiotics were.
We split the atom, built the jet engine cracked the DNA code , andmapped the stars with Hawkins mind.
industrialrevolution, ours.
Without Britain noelectricity grid, no trains, no factories no global economy.
From Shakespeare'spen to the Beatles guitars we did not just entertain the world wechanged it.
The Kinks, Bowie,Queen, Rolling Stones our sound tracks shook the planet, meanwhileOrwell, Dickens, Austin and Tolkin defined the genre. 1984, OliverTwist
Pride and PrejudiceLord of the Rings are still required reading every where thatcivilized thoughts exist.
We stood alone in1940 when the rest of Europe buckled, Churchill roar hell the line,The RAF held the skies and ordinary Brits held their nerve in theBlitz.
While fire rangedfrom above us we face down the Fascism with steel and sheer bloodymindedness defiance, and we did not just fight for ourselves wefought for freedom Globally.
Yes mistakes weremade but we built railways, schools, hospitals and entireinfrastructure in places that have been left in chaos by tribalism, and colonial conquest from others far cooler than us.
We brought medicine, education and governance to lands where literacy and slavery endemiclong before the Union Jack arrived
We were not perfectbut it was not evil and it sure as hell isn’t something toapologize for every five minutes.
The rule of law,Habeus Corpus free speech, trial by jury parliamentary democracy, those were all British inventions.
They are now thefoundation of liberty around the world and they started right here onthis island from Magna Cata the mother of all parliaments.
We did not justinfluence the world, we civilized it educated it inspired it, leadit, and one can do it again if we just remember who we are.
So next time someone sneers at Britain remind them we invented football, the week end,the internet radar, steam engines, punk rock, double Decker buses, and Gin and Tonic
Our past is notshameful, it is not baggage it’s a banner so raise it because ourfuture depends on remembering the glory and living up to it

Re: Great britain
Totally agree John. It's why so many millions of people from around the world have come to live here. They even risk their live to get here by any means.
It's a great place to be in history, not so sure about the present, or the future.
