Default poem 'the ocean' or 'i have seen'

hello everyone. I've been searching for a poem but I'm not too sure about the title or the author. one of the verses has the following words

i have seen the leaping porpoise come, by the hundreds from the horizon
leaving the water, bounding and leaping towards us.
playing around us for as long as it pleases them to play
then, suddenly, gone, just like that, all of them
as if by some secret signal, gone!
no leaping and dancing away to where they came from, just gone!
    into their deep.

That's as much as I know, I'd love to see the whole poem. can you help? thank you. shaun linton. (shaunpaullinton6@gmail.com)

hello my good friends, thanks for your response/s. I hope you are all well. I'm hoping that someone can help me with this request. I had this poem sent to me a long time ago, but the text in all but one verse was corrupted. I've lost touch with the lad who sent it to me. The name of the poet would be a good help. I've searched the usual places on the net, but no luck. Thanks to all of you. shaun

#1, Hello Shaun, The words you quoted:-

''There are no roses on a sailor’s grave,
No lilies on an ocean wave.
The only tribute is the seagulls’ sweeps,
And the teardrops that a sweetheart weeps,'' - were published in a book by Herbert A Werner A Personal Account of the German U-boat Battles of World War II named ''Iron Coffins'' which I haven't read myself. It's listed as a song in his biography so perhaps published much earlier. Good reviews if of interest:
    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/...9.Iron_Coffins

The British version of the poem/song as follows:

    ''No Roses''

    No crosses mark the ocean waves;
    No monuments of stone.
No roses grow on sailor's graves,
    The Sailor rests alone

His tributes are the sea gulls' sweeps,
    Forever wild and free . . .
And teardrops that his sweetheart weeps
    To mingle with the sea''

    Anon.

Dear Marian, many thanks for getting in touch with me. Sadly the poem you suggested, though indeed a fine piece of work, is not the poem
I've been searching for such a long time. I know that someone out there knows about 'my' poem. Its such a powerful piece of work I'm at a loss
to understand why it's not better known .But, there you go. I'll keep on looking . I am most grateful for your interest. thank you, shaun
