MERRY CHRISTMAS, BANG YOUR DEAD

Christmas Day broke bright and clear,
With thoughts of home and family dear.
We sailed along on placid sea,
On the EVERLAST, a liberty.

All was well until mid-day,
When a great explosion came our way.
We got away, but not sure how,
The EVERLAST sank by the bow.

The sub emerged and it was then,
They turned their guns on helpless men.
Save for our boat they seemed to spare,
But soon we learned they did not care.

That skipper asked for names and such,
The EVERLAST ran out of luck.
Words were few, all that was said,
Merry Christmas, bang your dead.
