    THANK YOU REGGIE EARNSHAW

I heard a story not often told,
Of a cabin boy, both brave and bold.
Who did not waver, did not bend,
Who did his duty to the end.

He sought to serve his country's cause,
    Without fanfare, without applause.
He signed aboard a merchant ship,
    To sail into the apocalypse.

NORTH DEVON sailed for the Tyne that day,
When a German bomber came her way.
All about the bombs did fall,
Near the cabin boy, who stood up tall.

He met his end in the engine room,
Amid scalding steam and acrid fume.
A mere young lad of fourteen years,
    A missing son, a Mother's tears.

    So, thank you Reggie Ernshaw,
    Who crossed that final bar.
Who gave his life amid the strife,
To remind us who we are.

    Ian Adrian Millar

Rest in peace Reggie. You are, and will always be,
a true British hero, and the pride of an entire nation.

    Keith.

I am glad that his sister got his medals and thanks to you for making that happen. Perhaps she would like a copy of the poem.

Not been in touch with the family for about 18 month. Have emailed Pauline's Daughter to see if email address is still active and letting them know I am using his photo on the revised copy of my book.
