Cast off your lines
CAST OFF YOUR LINES
An old brig rests beside the quay,
Her soaring spirit beckons me.
To leave the bonds of land behind,
To seek what fortune I might find.
Her sails hang limp, set out to dry,
The only sound the sea gull's cry,
My sea bag ready by the door,
To sail away to distant shore.
I made the rounds of the special few,
Family, friends and loved ones true.
And with the morning's freshening breeze,
The day has come it's time to leave.
A few came down to see us away,
A last farewell no more to say.
Ahead of us tempestuous times,
The old man hollered, cast off your lines.
