    Default The pig

Not a word did he utter
As he lay in the gutter
With a pig by his side.

A lady passing by was heard to say
" You can tell a man who boozes
By the company he chooses "
And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

I remember this one doing the rounds.Maggie Thatcher was sitting next to a pig when somebody exclaimed "WHAT ARE YOU DOING SITTING NEXT TO THAT SWINE" so the pig got up and slowly walked away. With sincere apologies to Cappy and Ivan.LOL.

Our dear beloved Maggie, saviour of the nation, worshipped by the masses who could take early retirement and enjoy life on the scrapheap.
The statues erected by the grateful miners and shipyard workers she saved from a life of drudgery and toil.
Heroine of slum landlords when all the council houses were sold off.

Oh Maggie how we miss you.

#5, I miss Mrs Thatcher Louis Cannot being doing with wimps in power! Sure she made mistakes......they all do PS, It wasn't all private landlords who bought the councils houses...most were by the tenants themselves they would have been foolish not to, given that the older ones paid a fraction of there worth around 70% was saved I believe. I personally knew quite a few labour and socialists supporters who would have knocked you down in the rush to do so. But hey who am I to judge!

Agree to a certain extent Marion, but unfortunately the houses did not stay with the tenants who bought them. Greed was good in Maggie's day, the yuppies soon saw the possibilities of easy money, bought them up to be sold for vast profits.
Young couples starting out in life rented council properties, as their earning power increased they would buy a house leaving the council property for another couple to move into.
We now have an acute housing crisis, houses too expensive to buy, only the extortionate private property to rent. Young people are trapped as the rents are so high they cannot save to buy.
