    Default Mortal

My shortest, and probably best (not saying much) poem:-

How can I be Mortal, I am ME
How in all Creation can this be?
    When young I was Immortal
I could stride through any portal
And the future was Forever - don't you see?

Now you have discovered what age has helped you find
You were never immortal, a youthful state of mind
The old man in the mirror for all to see
This cannot be true whatever happened to me?

Here is one I wrote at 3am when I couldn't sleep. helps to pass the time away, I guess many of us have been there.......

I am just a lonely Sailor
in a lonesome Dock Side Bar.
My ship has sailed without me
and I just don't know how far,

The Bar girl said she loved me
but has taken all my dough
So I am just a lonely Sailor
who`s got no place to go.
    Brian.

A couple of years ago I was driving from Albany to Perth, there outside of Perth is a Trailer Park, The Road Trains are not allowed through Perth so they drop their trailers off at the park and take them one by one across town to another Trailer Park and then go back for the others. Then they hitch up and carry on up North.
I saw some trailers there all alone. So being a big softy started to think about them and this came into my head, It must have been the heat.........
    .
I am just a lonely Trailer
    in a lonely Trailer Park.
My driver has gone and left me
and soon it will be dark.

    He took another trailer
to the other side of town
I hope he comes back soon
as the sun is going down.

    Brian.

Brian i had a camper van up to three months ago sold it.But your mention of road trains, brought me back to the time traveling around Aussie i was up north and got bogged in the red dust, the only other traffic on the single tarmac road was road trains,i flagged one down he stopped i explained my problem no problem Mate hook her on,he pulled ahead till i was abreast of the last trailer i hooked on and he towed me out gave him a toot on the horn came to a standstill unhook and a way he went with a blast of his whistle. Some trip that was.Used to love that old van, bought it new ready done out as a camper great van enjoyed it for 21 years sad to see it go.
