Cappy I applied to the Council for a job as assistant quaymaster on N.Shields fish quay about 1965. Big deal then they supplied you with oilskin and seaboots and about 5 pounds a week , but was a shore job. Someone already working for the council got it. One of about 3 or 4 jobs I applied for ashore. Must have thought I was unsuitable or didn't want seafarers in these jobs. Cheers John S.
