    Default A Sailor's Prayer:

    A Sailor's Prayer

    Dear God,
    Watch over her for me,
that she may safely guarded be.
Help her each lonely hour to bear,
as I would lord if I was there.

When she is sleeping watch her then,
that fear may not her dreams offend,
Be ever near her though the day,
let non, but goodness come her way.

Sweet faithful girl who waits for me,
beyond the wide as spacious sea.
Be merciful, O God, I pray,
take care of her while I'm away.

Default No cross marks the place where now we lie:

No cross marks the place where now we lie
What happened is known but to us
You asked, and we gave our lives to protect
Our land from the enemy curse

    No Flanders Field where poppies blow;
    No Gleaming Crosses, row on row;
No Unnamed Tomb for all to see
And pause -- and wonder who we might be

The Sailorsí Valhalla is where we lie
On the ocean bed, watching ships pass by
Sailing in safety now thruí the waves
Often right over our sea-locked graves

We ask you just to remember us.

    Default Convoy by Charles Causley

    Draw the blanket of ocean
    Over the frozen face.
He lies, his eyes quarried by glittering fish,
Staring through the green freezing sea-glass
    At the Northern Lights.

He is now a child in the land of Christmas:
Watching, amazed, the white tumbling bears
    And the diving seal.
The iron wind clangs round the ice-caps,
    The five-pointed Dog-star
    Burns over the silent sea,

    And the three ships
    Come sailing in.

    A Sailors Prayer

Lord protect me when I am afloat or ashore.
Guard our ships and all that sail in them.
When I am in danger may your strength be my hope.
Let me feel your presence when I am alone.
Keep my family and friends forever in your house.
May they be there to welcome me when I return.

    Amen.
