The Vindi Boys

I wrote this one about the reunions the Vindi boys hold in Sydney.

THE VINDI BOYS.

WE GATHER AS A GROUP
LIKE WE USED TO ON THE POOP
AND THE BULL**** FALLS LIKE DUST UPON THE PLAIN
OF THOSE TRIPS WE ALL HAD DONE
TO THOSE COUNTRIES IN THE SUN
AND THE NEEDLES FROM THE STEWARD THAT CAUSED PAIN

WHILE THE LADIES NATTER ON
WE BREAK INTO A SONG
ABOUT THE SEA SCHOOL WE ALL WENT TO LONG AGO
THE VINDI BROUGHT US ALL
TO THIS NICE MESONIC HALL
IN OUR SEA DAYS WE'D BE SHOWN THE BLOODY DOOR.

WHAT STORIES WE DID TELL
ABOUT SHPS THAT CAME FROM HELL
SOME GOOD ONES, EVEN TANKERS, WE SUBMIT
THAT'S WHAT REUNIONS FOR
SO WE ALL CAN HAVE A JAW
TINGED WITH A LITTLE BULL**** WE ADMIT

THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN AD
TO THE LIFE WE ALL HAVE HAD
IF YOUR TAFF, JOCK, PAT, OR CHANGED YOUR NAME TO CINDY
SO RAISE YOUR GLASS ON HIGH
WIPE THAT TEAR FROM YOUR EYE
ONE THING WE HAVE IN COMMON IS THE VINDI.

Hi Geoff.
I have written one about the Welsh miners after the strike, it will make you weep, but it is not a sea poem.
And John I will admit my voice is like that of a mouse ha ha.

I remember standing on the dock waiting to go on board for meals all boys singing.

There's a sign post on the corner saying welcome unto thee,
Don't believe it, don't believe it cause its all a pack of lies,
If it wasn't for Old Aggate it would be a Paradise.
