Hi Bruno,
When were you on the Himalaya plaese,as my late Uncle was on her for quite some time in the mid to late 60's as i recall.
He was well know as (Dusty) Gerorge and was Head Barman on her !
Just a shot in the dark mate, but possibly you may have sailed with him??
Cheers
G.Day Vernon.;)
I was on Himalaya 65/66, as Asst Linenkeeper and do remember Dusty Head Barman, only because he was a good friend of my Father. when he had been on there, by the time I joined, my Father had gone to 'Oriana' I believe, I remember his cabin was three up from mine.
Small world
Have a cold one for me, I miss living in Australia.
Regards
Paul Bruno:)
Well Bruno you are the first one now that recalls him,and this is after some 2 years since i first posted asking if anyone remembered him! So yes i am so glad that at least i found someone!
It is a pity that he passed away quite some time ago,he had left the MN in about 1982 after having done his last trip on the old Sea Princess, and he remarried here in Sydney,(he was previously married with 5kids and lived then in the East End of London).
He got a job in the Holiday Inns Menzies (Sydney)also as a Head Barman, then left there and went to work at David Jones as a Floorwalker!
He then had problems with his Health and consequently passed on,he was very sadly missed by me,as he,my late Brother and myself were always very close more like Brothers than Uncle and Nephews! He was a late baby in the Family so was close to our ages!
Well thats it,but it was great to know that at least someone still recalls him!
Thank you so much!
Cheers
These may give you some memories!
