Hello Hanneke, Have searched for Alan George Dixon again today and only found two out of the 240+ available on world wide ancestry that matched the 1932 birth date. Both men deceased. Checked their family trees for photographs and MN info, nothing to state that either of them had ever served in the Merchant Navy. So I can only suggest that you contact the Salvation Army [see below]as your next step since time is of the essence.
