Transferred from P&O Oriana and joined Encounter Bay in Antwerp at the end of her maiden voyage on 13 May 1969. (Dockers wouldn't allow them to use UK ports in those days.)

Did Voyage 2 to Australia but didn't enjoy the dual purpose role of working both on deck and in the engine room. A shame really, because the food and the accomodation were absolutely fantastic.

I remember a big problem with the five bladed single prop. A few experts sailed with us for a few days, trying to cure the severe vibration.

Worked on Discovery Bay in Antwerp for a few days in September 1969 and that was it for containerships. I preferred shorter sea passages and more time in port.
