Re: Hans up !
Like so many other occasions such as St Georges day, long gone and lost in the mists of time.

Re: Hans up !
St Georges day is still remembered in England and even more so today with the ,shall we say with the more patriotic citizens.
Saint Paddy about 432 AD,but Saint Patrick was never cannoized. I wonder if Paddy is sponsored by Guinness?
George was made patron Saint of England by King Edward 3. George had been cannonized by the church of Rome in AD 494

Re: Hans up !
Went up the Club for dinner as always, but had no idea it was St Valentine's Day, espesially as the Club made nothing out of it, I think it is a more UK thing, like St David and St George

Re: Hans up !
Des, Saint David, thought he was from Wales!!!!!!!!
St Patrick, said to be either a Roman soldier who converted to Christianity, or the son of such.
Much debate over the years in Ireland about it but the biggest celebration of St Pats day is in New York.
In Tipperary there is a wayside religious spot with the name of , St Patrick's well.
A Yank passing by said, 'never knew he was sick'
