    Default THe utterings of a

Are these the utterings of a deranged mind?

    https://uk.yahoo.com/news/trump-vows...171439352.html

Bully boy tactics , threatening a NATO member. Must have been on the phone to Putin asking for advice.

The other Loon in the room is Elon Musk, the most dangerous man on the planet. If he sets foot in the UK he should be arrested for at the least inciting civil unrest. Two basket cases. I just wonder when Musk will make a move on Trump if he dares to criticise him. After all Musk will remind him who put him back in the White House again.

Also Musk attacking Jess Philips way out of order , what has it got to do with him. He is setting the girl up for some head case to assault her. Wither you agree with her or not she should not have to put up with the rants of a megalomaniac like Musk.

Doc, It is the start of a conversation and nothing else. Let's see how people respond? Such subjects as long as no slagging kicks off. Also as has been said before if people don't like it don't read and move on.

Reckon I disagree with just about everything in your thread James. Nothing more to say.

Our Donald is what he is, but very popular still.
James you are reading something that is not there.

Back in 1897 the USA house of congress attempted to take over Greenland by some treaty, never got to finish it.

James, Greenland is located in a part of the world close to USA, Eu nations and Russia.
Both Denmark and Greenland need to spend more on defense with China now so close.

This is a move by Donald to egt the situation moving.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

This started in the 1860's. It all got bogged down. The end result was the purchase of the Danish West Indies in 1917. Greenland got overlooked, or they couldn't agree.

John Oz, Perhaps you have not viewed Trumps latest tv statements.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/why-do...it-2025-01-08/

COPENHAGEN, Jan 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Donald Trump says he wants to make Greenland a part of the United States and does not rule out using military or economic power to get Denmark to hand over the mineral-rich and strategically important island.
"Greenland is an incredible place, and the people will benefit tremendously if, and when, it becomes part of our Nation," Trump said in a Truth Social post on Monday.
"This is a deal that must happen," Trump said on Tuesday as his son, Donald Trump Jr., paid a private visit to Greenland.

Greenland became Danish in 1814 and was fully integrated in Denmark in 19531. After Greenland became an integral part of the Kingdom of Denmark in 1953, reforms were undertaken to improve the local economy, transportation systems, and the educational system. Denmark granted home rule to the island on May 1, 1979, with Denmark keeping control of a number of areas including foreign relations, defense, currency matters and the legal system in Greenland

Trump is basically threatening a NATO member. So when will he demand that Canada also becomes part of the USA??

I can understand his concerns about Panama and the canal zone , but it was a President from his own party was in Power at the time of US Military leaving the Canal zone George H W Bush.
It was Jimmy Carter set the wheels in motion in September 1977.

President Jimmy Carter and Panamanian Chief of Government Omar Torrijos signed the Panama Canal Treaty and Neutrality Treaty on September 7, 1977. This agreement relinquishes American control over the canal by the year 2000 and guarantees its neutrality.

So basically signing an agreement means nothing it would seem?

To be honest it would seem the US seem to be a bit short sighted when it comes to securing major transit routes concerning seatrade. Was it not the US that forced the UK & France to hand over control of the Suez canal in 1956?

If the US make a move on Panama that may well up set the Chinese , look how they are behaving in the south China sea.
All the big boys are squaring up for a bust up. IMHO

Dates and times aside the USA also purchased Alaska from the Russians for peanuts, sometime after the Crimean war of which they tended to favour the Russian side of the argument. Information supplied by the Council school I attended, for those playing hooky ( not hockey ) may have missed. The purchase of land extended far above today’s mortagees looking for a place to lay their weary head. To the victor went the spoils. Not much has changed.
