Yes John Know a lot about al that as i was in the Police Force in South Africa, although the Traffic Side, but even so the training was also the same . Had to be in the days .Quote:

What people have to remember is that the police and Ambos where there for two hours trying to talk to her, what they didn't know was that her dementure had gone beond reason, I'm not sure if they picked that up n the autopsy or in hospital a few weeks before.

My Daughter-in-Law is the manager of a care home in Berkshire, asked her what she would have done?? Same as she would a 1 year old baby?? 95 year had severe 'dementia' so talking will not work.Quote:

In the care home she runs most of the staff are females, average age 40+ only males are two drivers and a general handyman all gone by 5-6pm leaving adult females who take no nonsense.
Her comments on the policeman are scathing!! Bully, murderer etc, etc easy for him to go up behind her and grab her arms as you would an adult. Policeman were impatient since he had already completed his shift and wanted to go home. Tasing a male that can do injury to you is okay, not 95yr old semi-mobile person weighing barely more than 3 bags of potatoes
An interesting point she made is that some staff 'can' get pissed off with elderly, incontinent, demented and argumentative patients and want to see a spanking happen to them.
When all said and done a human being were killed/murdered by an act of recklessness, the cop knew a tasing would make her fall unconscious.
He murdered her, he knew via his training what the outcome could result in, he did not care and sure did not show a "Duty of care"
Looking after those who are elderly and with Dementia requires a very understanding and dedicated individual, understandable why sadly some carers lose the plot.
I have a friend who has a son who is badly disabled, not physically but severe Autism, to make matters worse he cannot speak just makes noises.
He has been in care now for many years he is 34. His mum is a special lady very caring but Tom just got to hard to handle. He is in a specially adapted bungalow with 3 more lads with the same problems, they have live in carers,they carers are rotated out off the house every 6 weeks. Having been in Toms company on occassion withh his mum, those carers are saints. God knows how they can put up with it.
It does takes someone special to work with these people, my son worked for twelve months at a home where four handicapped men lived, he got on well with them and got them all to do what he wanted , but in the time he was there about ten people came to work there but couldn't manage. David had to give it away in the end, but still works with less handicapped men.

I have spent the last years, since 1998 caring for people of all ages, six years in a retirement village and since then as a volunteer at the local Community Health Center.
People, men and women, of all ages with all manner of challenges.
Demetia, and one at the age of only 29, stroke patients, acquired brain injuries, autism, physical, mental and phycological problems.
All need differing styles of caring, but once you get to know them it can be easy.
I enjoy the challenge and get great personal satisfaction in knowing I am helping my fellow man who is not had the good fortune of some.
That Copper is now going o sue, I don't know if it is the police or the Govt, could be interesting.
