Navantia & H&W
Spanish state-owned giant Navantia is nearing a deal to buy stricken shipbuilder Harland & Wolff out of administration, putting hundreds of jobs at risk.
Could happen by as early as November.
Well Understandable really as the 2 yards have been awarded a £1.6 billion contract to build the 3 fleet solid support ships for the RFA/RN.
Be good if they can save H&W as the way the world is heading we may well need a yard with the facilities H&W have the Building dock being one such valuable asset.

Think this article was on her 2012 visit.

For a loan guarantee £200 million this yard and it's facilities are lost a sad day it will be for British ship building and the loss of a great repair facility.
The £billions handed out to other industries already foreign owned??? We no longer make any steel in the UK and are at the mercy of the Indians & Chinese who on a regular basis come back every other year with the begging bowl, Same with the Utility companies mostly foreign owned.

Because we have spineless politicians who are in it for their own selfish reasons and a good inflation proof pension, and we are getting more and more politicians British in name only and who have their own agendas which have no benefit to this country as a whole.

Similar situation here in Oz.
If the public knew just how much of Oz has been sold off to the likes of China I think there would be riots in the street.
One of the largest cattle stations was recenty sold to a Chinese company, no one here wanted it.
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Navantia & H&W
I believe that because Britain once had such power in the world it had to, being only a small country, eventually be stripped of its wealth by the Countries it had once ruled over. If one reads History it has been happening for centuries in other powerful countries. Unfortunately the people of Britain are living it and find it very painful, more so when their own Politicians from all parties are helping it along, by ignorance and greed. The struggle for the White house in America is all part of it, their bitterness over a growing China is palpable, it's what brings wars which do the ordinary people no favors as they are the ones who have to fight them.

Re: Navantia & H&W
China is definitely a challenge to the western world, but India may be an even bigger one.
It is unlike China a democracy so most of the west will consider them to be honest.
But some week back the Indian PM said the country was overcrowded and some of the population should go overseas to live.
India has now overtaken UK for imigrants to Oz.
Happy daze John in Oz.
