As yourself Des and many others i expect, also getting so many letters of asking fot Donations from all sorts!
Now while we have always given and quite generously in most cases, to quite a few well know Charities m) Salvation Army, McGrath Foundation, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, and a few more, that will now cease from this Year. No more as besides us now having to watch the Pennies, (Both now fully Retired) as you mention who know where all the money goes??

But anyway at least we and i guess the likes of yourself and others have Donated in the past! So will now leave it to the Younger Generations ! Lets hope they can carry on !

#65 over the past few years I have tried to keep donations to charities the likes of the Air Ambulance , the Arthritis and heart Foundations and a few more in Australia when could afford. However as one gets older the outgoings are beginning to catch up with the incomings , this arrives with age when having to pay for medical services and transport to such establishments and you will also find this out when you lose your driving licence Des.
You can sometimes get free transport if you arrange a few weeks beforehand Des , but who can estimate the time date and hour you are or your partner is going to fall over. I think for older people the charitable days are over and best to look after your own and the old saying Charity begins at home is very correct. So as far as I’m concerned the budget starts here and now, the only problem however is, I have to try and convince the wife about her pet charitable donations as against having to buy expensive none prescription expensive medicines, and make charity a thing of the past. its called PPP many of you will be thinking........... Private Patients Plan

First the BBC (our taxed money) stopped free TV for over 75's
Now Labour has stopped our winter fuel allowance

Bet its the extra 25 pence per week you get on your State Pension for being 80 plus

Tea time TV all you get is , for £2 a monthh we can look after Donkeys, or water aid or wee jimmy's racing pig lol.
One of the first things I do is google how much the CEO of any charity is on. It takes a lot of £2 donations to cover the CEO's salary before the we donkey gets anything.
Me I support Claire House , a childrens hospice, also Saint Johns Hospice both on Wirral. St Johns is were I will likely take my last breath.
Air Ambulance I have been involved with raising funds. The RNLI can go whistle the most over funded charirty in the UK.

#68 I always used to gauge the cost of living in the UK by the price of a penny oxo cube Ivan which was the same price for years and years and only went up with decimalisation one of the biggest cons going at the time. How much do they cost today ? JS

My GP subscribes to that, if you want an appointment you must call the surgery at 07.00hrs. If you are still on hold by 07.30hrs. then you will be cut off and told to retry then next day.

The Grooming gangs committed a horrific number of underage sexual crimes.
To the individual girls and her families the macro effects were statistically small.

Not a baiting post, but, when breaking down crimes and converting them to statistics it blurs/hides the pain personally felt by the victim/s. To say that the percentage increase in crimes is small may be true if there are already an enormous of amount of crime.

We are not youngsters on here, I am 69 retired in Asia and last time in the UK were Jan 2017 for my youngest son funeral, returned March& April this year for my eldest sons wedding and how the UK has went downhill in the affluent home counties (Berkshire) were shocking. Infrastructure just for one, nobody smiling, a lot of folk on minimum wage, the cost of a sandwich and pint of beer, train fares etc, families needing two wages to bring up children.

Unfettered illegal immigration has allowed gangs to make a lot of money.
