    Default Electric cars

An online news article about Jaguar I Pace electric cars.
A guy was driving his I Pace car on the M 62, suddenly the battery alarm sounded, catastrophic battery failure. At the same time the car started to accelerate, and the brakes failed. The car accelerated to 100mph.
At this point the driver dialled 999, explained his problem.
Police cleared the motorway in front of the car and used other cars as battering rams to stop the vehicle. Apparently this not the first time this has happened on this model of cars.

A lot of problems with EV cars. I may be wrong but last year an elderly couple drowned in their car. They went through flood water and the car failed , battery died. The flood water was rising and because they had lost all power they could not unlock the doors.

For what ever reasons they have brought out these EV Cars, all most probably well and good ! However for myself , as i had said in another post about these Cars, i would not touch one with a bargepole, even if one was offered to me for Zilch!

No way hosay! Firstly they are not really good for any sort of long distance driving, especially here in Aussie where many travel distances that would boggle anyone else,s mind!

Secondly i have heard and seen too many of these Cars go up in Flames for no apparent reason!
Death traps as far as i am concerned!

Just making Millions of Dollars for the Battery Industry that roll out many many thousands of these Lithium Batteries!

I say for one! STOP these Cars being made! We have done well on what we have for so long now, so why the change! And dont say Pollution! Thats a load of crap! Modern Petrol and for that matter Diesel Cars etc are made with as low an Emission as possible. It wont Kill us ! We have lived so long with it.

My bit over and out! LOL

Before I buy an electric car they will have to provide a power cable at least 50 kilometers long so that I can keep it attached to the power in my house, it's the way to go LoL.

An interesting article on the net the other day about how un-environmentally friendly such vehicles are.
The level of emissions produced during manufacturing of batteries exceeds tail pipe exhaust ones.

Then with some where the battery is built into the sub frame, the battery dies and so does the car, new one cannot be fitted.

But Hydrogen cars are beginning to appear here, and in some countries they are becoming big time.

About half the worlds nations signed up to an agreement about reaching net zero by 2050.
But most say it may well be 2070 before they get there.
All the 'fossil' fuel producing nations will continue to produce coal, gas, oil etc.
    So who is kidding whom??

    hi des #4
good morning, well des you are better off without one, just look at volkswagen group whom own porsche cars they are being sued for the sinking of the FELICITY ACE car carrier off the the azores in 2022 running into hundreds of millions as one of porsches cars on board, it seems caused the fire , Or for that matter a jaguar I PACE electric car yesterday had to be brought to a stop on the M62 motorway by the police whom drove one car in the front and one at the rear, to bring it to a stop as the car refused to stop and roared away upto speeds of over a hundred miles per hour this is a hundred thousand pounds vehical, i dont believe the technology is good enough yet they are dangerous.

Just a thought, I no longer have licence could I still buy and legally use one of these new fangled driverless cars. Also if I could what would the law would be if I was stopped and failed a Breathalyser test?

Or you could be fined for failing to pay the electricity bill on your car.

Only you James could think that one up.
But you have a valid point, still in control even though it is driverless.
But until all such cars are on the road I did not think it is such a great concept.

But progress, as they call it, will intime see a solution to all of this.
Toyota say that the take up of EV will not exceed about 30% of total vehicle sales.

In Germany sales of EV have slumped as the public do not like them, prefer the conventional ones.

A correspondent from the NMRA, NSW version of AA was on radio speaking to phone in listeners asking questions about different styles of vehicles.

On the matter of EV he said this.

They are fine for short trips, but no good on long ones.
If you had to do a 300 klm return trip 2 or 3 times a week you would be in trouble, the car would not last long.
Despite the USA saying they have vehicles now capable of 400 miles per charge, running at 100 klm per hour will soon destroy the battery.
the heat generated will reduce the battery life.
In general EV were never designed to be long travelers, ideal for the 40klm trip per day but that is about it.
