It was in the news the other day, that a bloke driving a Jaguar EV lost all braking power due to an electrical fault. I have an electric hand brake and hate it, the old mechanical hand brake was always handy if the footbrake failed, as it has several times in years gone by.
I think the day will come when every vehicle in the country will lose power due to some foreign influence, at the flick of a button. If they can interfere with computers, they'll do it with everything before long, phones, banks, the lot.
My mate had one of the first EVs, chucked it in after losing all power while stuck in bad weather on a short trip, all due to wipers, heater, and lights being on. Then moving a few feet every minute or so.

Apologies people, it was also reported on here in the first post on the subject.

Yet the government tries to keep it under wraps for obvious reasons.

In support of our Australian colleague I would like to add my voice to the argument of STOP the manufacture of battery powered cars. The arguments for environmental considerations of these vehicles are seriously flawed, world lithium resources are not that abundant whilst the energy required to extract and process the materials hugely offsets any hoped for advantage. I won“t go into the cost and energy sapping process of trying to re-cycle spent batteries and what to do with the toxic waste that results.

For battery powered cars, go to a toy shop.

The price of a secondhand electric car here in the u.k is around £5000, not bad eh! But, that car will be around 5/6 years old and the batteries in electric cars last for around 7 years, so your £5000 bargain is probably going to cost you around a further £5000 to replace the battery.
, so it's not such a bargain. The longest warranty I have seen advertised for an electric car is 7 years, so obviously the manufacturer knows that after 7 years you will need to replace the battery.
Charging time/cost, range, disposals of worn out batteries etc have yet to be solved by the electric car lobby.

One small problem, on some the battery is built into the sub frame so try to change that.
I was informed by one such EV dealer that with some of the vehicles not just the battery, some of the main cables as well.
But what ever you do, do not tell the public the full story, the lerss they know the better.

I suspect that the main reason for EVs, is to get most people off the road and on to public transport. Well off people will still be mobile, but the less well off won't.

Read today that the Lord Mayor of London says the LEFZ is not costing motorists any money at all.
If that is so then why does it exist??

I had it explained like this.
All the companies that have to pay the ULEZ fee, then claim it back from the tax man, who, in turn, gets it all back from the tax payers, of which I'm one.

According to the latest research E. V.'s are responsible for the large increase in the number of potholes in the UK roads.
    E. V.' s cause more stress on the road due to the increase in weight due to the batteries.
