Decimation of the ABBOT STEEL PLANT Port Talbot
Appendages to the above post,
hi good evening,
the details i wrote about regarding the reasons that brought this great welsh town to this point in time, where written originally by andrew neil the scots born political commentator and journalist in yesterdays daily mail, and i thought it to be politically well balanced in its entirety, there is though dissent from a lemon or two, regarding the authenticity of the actual circumstances that have lead to the closing of the abbots steel plant at port talbot,
please let me show how from blairs goverment in 2001 the campaign for climate change was by 2008 enacted in law whereby the secretary of state for energy and climate change ed miliband on 16th of october of that year announced that the act would mandate
an eighty percent cut overall in six green house gases by 2050. this was the start of the road to net zero, the tories have whilst in power pressed for the same ideals and are as guilty of this idelogical insanity as the labour party.

Sorry but any gov that thinks such levels of emissions is possible are living in cuckoo land.
Many countries now in E U and other parts are coming to the realization that it will not be possible.
Here in Oz the mad push for renewables is seeing power shortages and black out occurring regularly, yet the polis still tell us they will save the world!!!!
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Decimation of the ABBOT STEEL PLANT Port Talbot
I can never understand why those who oppose renewables and deny that Global warming is a load of tosh. We are all from a generation that grew up were every house had a coal fire of some description. Factories were pumping out vast emissions as were ships at sea. Every house in the street now usually has at least one. The roads in the morning are chocker block during rush hour and also mums doing the school to a school which is likely no more than 500 metres from the front door. Make the wee feckers walk. Probably the only exercise they would get all week.
Nothing wrong with trying to improve the air quality.

James, no one is opposed to cleaner air.
But some of us who are still able to think outside the square look at it in a very different way.
Driving this is not saving the globe, rather saving money, large amounts of money for shareholders who think they can make money from the new concept of Ev and wind/ solar.
Long term none of which will work as they think.
But agree the kids should do as we did and bloody well walk to school.

Re: Decimation of the ABBOT STEEL PLANT Port Talbot
While Tata are justifying the closure of the Port Talbot furnaces to go green they are still building the same blast furnaces in India. Instead of the emissions happening in the UK it is apparently OK to import those emissions from elsewhere. One blast furnace was always due to close because of being due for re-lining but they could have continued using the remaining furnace while building the new electric ark furnaces and avoiding imports.
