#62 Apparently they had safety on their side if attained the much higher altitude which the biplanes of the day couldn’t reach. JS

There was one plane that reached the heights of the zeppelins john, the SE5a was designed and built for the RFC {Royal Flying Corpes}, the fore runner to the RAF ,
many pilots of the day considered the SE5a to be the bst single seat fighter in WW1. Mum told me of an evening in 1916 when she was 10 years old, she recalled her
family were startled by a huge commotion outside their home, they ran to the front door to see what it was, it turned out to be an army truck wit a large gun mounted
on the back, it seems the truck had been following a Zeppelin through the streets of London and paused to fire at the airship above before continuing the chase.
In later years I found that two Zeppelins were shot down in Essex in 1916, one in the Billeriay area and the other over a nearby village named stock, one of those two
had to be what mum saw from outsid her home, can imagin her having a boast about it at school the next few days. cheers

According to the news from UK about king Charlie and his big C, he will be we were told 'working from home' for the foreseeable future.
