Well after Brexit and all those employed Fruit & Veg pickers had to bugger of back to their home nations BIG shortage of Labour. Our bunch of lazy assholes being offered the jobs would have appeared to continue on the dole.
Perhaps that is what Rishi means by Clearing the back log of illegals, make them legal.
If we are feeding them and keeping them warm, health care etc!! might as well make em work for there keep.

Allowing the illegal Migrants Leave to work has certainly put the chattering classes and politico’s in a spin .
If you consider that the Rwanda plan was thought up to act as a calculated deterrent to reduce the small boats . And the granting of leave to work seams to negate that calculated deterrent by altering the equation .
It goes to show the only people to win will be Lawyers who will continue to access The Legal aid systems to fight someone’s corner in this Long and winding road which has many corners. A lot of Politico’s are ex Lawyers or legally trained .Just saying !

When I was a kid, we would go out to the farm with Mum and pick peas, potatoes, and all the other farmy things. the pay was probably low, but it helped with something, otherwise nobody would do it.
That's the trouble today, money for nothing. Of course there were benefits for some people, but it was not so easily given in those days. The NHS was better too, with mostly only Brits getting the benefit of it, but now it's open to the world. The hospital staff were mostly Brits or Irish, and were brilliant, now we often need translators when attending hospitals.
No wonder our once fine country has turned into the arsehole of the world, and all the crap wants to be here.
It is the people of the country that made it.And it is also the people of the country that has turned it into what it is today.
As kids we would go and help the local farmer, pocket money and a dozen eggs or what ever to take home for your mum.
Cheap labor to work in section where many will not work.
These persons will do the work if it means staying in the country.
No doubt at a much lower rate of pay just to add to the dilemma.

Yes, but for many it is still a far better income than from where they came.
No doubt many will live with others they know, maybe some could be relatives who knows.
Some may be very happy to sleep in old condemned buildings as long as they get money.
Then some may be very lucky and find some gov help.
Not for the average UK citizen I know, but for some it is still good.
Totally agree John, it's why they come, and I don't blame them. I blame the tight arsed builders and gov.uk for allowing them to put UK workers out of work.
It was all part of the EU "Levelling up" plan, for some to level up, others have to be levelled down
Some of the woke brigade think that the construction companies are selling these properties for less, or charging local authorities less for the work, but they're not.
