In WW2 we came very close to being invaded and occupied by a foreign force. This was prevented by the bravery of our military with the assistance of the M.N. volunteers who brought in vital supplies and saved the country from starvation.
The West Bank has been occupied by Israel for 75 years, some of the population have been born, reached adulthood and old age knowing nothing else except occupation. They have no rights and can only watch as more and more of their land is stolen by armed settlers. Stone throwing children are shot dead or arrested to face years of imprisonment without charges or trials taking place.
Gaza is rightly known as the worlds largest open air prison, every aspect of life controlled by Israel. It is now facing total destruction with nowhere for the Palestinian people who survive this war to exist or rebuild their lives.
This is why people who have a conscience and want to see an end of the injustice and bloodshed are taking to the streets in protest.

but perhaps you should also ask the survivors (if any) of Coventry and Plymouth which were virtually razed to the ground. Lets not forget that Dresden was still manufacturing ball bearings and optics for military use at the time.

Anyway didn't the British Govt use millions of Pounds of the British taxpayers money to rebuild and restore the Dresden Cathedral tower and gold plated basilica, I may have missed the report but I don't remember reading about any German contributions in rebuilding Coventry Cathedral

The link below gives IMHO an unbiased and summarised synopsis of Gaza since 1948. It beggers the question, who in their right mind would want to live there, sharing a heritage of fighting each other since the 4th century! Most of our countries have been invaded get over it. Removing the religious connotations from the political equation may be a way forward but they are so mired in the Biblical sense it appears they would rather die first.....

The middle east problem goes back beyond biblical times, Arabs and jews have never got on.

But Gaza for many is the only home they know, a gov made up by faceless men who hide in Syria or Iran and give the orders for the foot soldiers who set off the rockets.

But for many years now the people of Gaza have almost been prisoners in the worlds largest open air prison.
The ordinary person has no where to go, just wants to live their life in the best way they can, but if facts given are true then Israel had withheld some very basic items from them.

A shortage of medical equipment being one complaint from the locals.
Land being taken meter by meter to house more Israelis, who also just want to live their life as best they can.

The chance of a solution that both will agree on is slim, but we live in hope.
