Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Give it a rest Vic, you are starting to sound like another broken record.#124, ever heard of the term Gerrymandering?
Gerrymandering is the political manipulation of electoral district boundaries with the intent to create undue advantage for a party, group, or socioeconomic class within the constituency. It can involve tactics such as “cracking” (diluting the voting power of the opposing party’s supporters across many districts) or “packing” (concentrating the opposing party’s voting power. Ulster Unionism in a nut shell.
#125 that the Union JACK - not flag show me in any post were I said Union Jack? before you post proof read
Perhaps I am stirring the pot. Am I proud of my countrty , not really!! we hide behind American might, without the USA we would all be speaking German.
Oh and before you and others kick off I am not ashamed of those who did their best to keep use free and paid the so called ultimate price.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Well James, you did mention the Union flag in post 123.
For clarification, the National flag of the UK is known as the Union Flag and the Union Jack.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Gerrymandering, see you are quoting a document written and printed in 1964.
If Gerrymandering is rife as you say, how come the Nationalists are in power in Ulster?
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Yes I did , but I do know the difference between the Union Flag and Union JACK. Sometimes I get tired Vic of those who claim to have been there or done that. When I worked for Bibby line on the Gas fleet, the number of people I sailed with or met who were either down to join or were waiting in Japan to join the ill fated Derbyshire!!! there would have been a crew of around about 80+ onboard.
It is easy to be a keyboard warrior. Some here have been dining out on an acts or a deeds done years ago. Well done them, done nothing that a any seaman worth his salt would not have done, their job. Take from that what ever you like. I am tired now so will take my leave for a spell.
Good night and may peace be with you.
Cheers James
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
#126 I can’t say anything Vic as all has been said before. As don’t know what the argument is.. as have done the same with former names and all I see is James Curry is on your ignore list. Gives less chance of disharmony on the site. Which have thought for years that was his sole intention. Cheers JS.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
The IRA situation was quite simple.
UK only has the North, those gutless wonders the IRA wanted a united Ireland, no doubt with them in control, but the people of the South DO NOT!!!!!
They were just terrorists and like so many others want to create havoc in the vain hope they may win.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Dough, good on ya mate, says it all.
But what most do not know is that there are two IRA.
In the north the Irish Republican Army, a terrorist group with one aim, control of all Ireland under their rule.
In the south Irish Republic Army, there to protect the people.
In 1923 when the Irish republic came into being my father in law was a member of that army.
Having served his 5 year he then took up with the Garda, Irish police until he retired in 1967.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
"Before 2023, some of the worst fighting was in 2014 . Israel carried out air strikes and artillery bombardment that devastated neighbourhoods.
More than 2,100 Palestinians were killed, mostly civilians. Israel put the number of its dead at 67 soldiers and six civilians."
This is just one of the incidents over many years and I don't recall much outrage, just business as usual. I too had drunk the Kool aid and believed the very pro Israel accounts by the western press.
Labels like terrorist, genocide anti-semite are just labels that are interpreted for use as buzz words on which neither side can agree to the meaning of and used to justify their position.
A dead or wounded child is just that ,whatever category is finally decided for them. How ANYONE can justify the continued onslaught beggars belief.

Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
In some instances the attacking army may attempt to keep the civilians out of their range.
The current conflict in Gaza is on a level maybe never seen apart from the Holocaust.
If the TV images are true, and it would be hard to hide them, then the treatment of civilians is nothing short of deliberate genocide.
Giving the impression that Israel will kill all to reach their goal.
But again if the TV images are true then many in Israel are extremely unhappy with what is going on demanding a cease fire and the PM to stand down.
In my opinion the majority of those living in Israel are decent folk who do not condone what is occurring in Gaza.
How it will end, who knows, too many others involved behind the scenes.
Re: the misconception of what is good and what is evil
Plenty of Nationalists in the North!
