What is wrong with people a 60's something man has also been arrested in connection with this sick act of vandilism. They should be paraded through the towns an villages with a sign around their necks stating the crime committed, while on their way to the gallows. Umm!!! is that a bit much? the gallows part?

I live only a few miles away from Sycamore Gap. The news of this act of vandalism was met with disbelief in our local community. Who would do such a thing? Its felling has been a cause of upset right across Northumberland and Tyneside. We do not believe a 16 year old would the have the ability, skill or strength to use the type of chain-saw needed to topple this 300 year old tree.

    Hi John
What I saw was the tree lying cut down, don't think it would have been for firewood. My sentence would be to tie them both up to a stake on the site for twelve months and place a pile of cow pats there for the passing walkers to vent their anger.

Latest news is that the 60 year old, a lumberjack, is too sick to have done it.
Only pulled in because he lives on a nearby farm and has been given notice to move out.
He claims it would take a professional guy to do it.

Was done at night when an 86MPH wind was blowing so sound of saw not noticed.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
