She should petition for the Prime Ministers Billionaire wife, resident in the UK, to pay UK taxes as the rest of us do.

I think you will find she does pay UK Taxes even on her overseas income. Yes she was pressured into it to save her husband embarrassment when he was chancellor.

Not paying tax is not a crime.
Tax avoidance is however tax minimization is not, however tax evasion is.
Smart people can afford, just as major companies do, to employ the smartest accountants there are.
Ones that know legal ways to avoid tax the gov has not even thought of.

For this simple reason most major companies often pay very little tax, but why would any one with even half a brain pay more than they need to.

So not all bad news then Vic about Fergusons. Sadly they are tainted over those ferries. In all honesty Vic would you take a chance on Fergusons building and completing 3 vessels on budget and on time? To be honest I am not so sure any yard in the UK is currently geared for a contract like that, other than perhaps
H&W Appledore. But I do think it is a pipe dream.

Why do we complain that there is no shipbuilding in this country and then knock and take the pizz out of people who want to try and alter that, sad!

But name a UK yard that could do the imagined project on time and on budget, only one looks a possible likely candidate. H&W Appledore.

The RRS Sir David Attenborough is a research vessel owned by the Natural Environment Research Council and operated by the British Antarctic Survey for the purposes of both research and logistic support. The ship was constructed by Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, UK, and cost £200 million. The construction of the ship began in October 2016, and the keel-laying ceremony took place on 17 October 2016. The ship was launched on 14 July 2018 and completed on 2 December 2020
She was 2 years 2 months late in delivery and £35million over budget.

Currently Babcocks are taking over 4 years now to carry out refit work on type 23 frigates, 10 years ago this work was taking 18 months.

Yes Ivan it would be great to see ship building up and running again in the UK, let's see how well H&W do with vessels planned for the RFA.

(1) How do you know that, you haven't given her a chance

(2) You have to have dreams and £27 million is miniscule in the whole spectre of things, they said the Chunnel was impossible, feasibility study showed it was, they said a bridge across the Bosphorus was impossible, feasibility study showed it was.

Without dreams and feasibility studies nothing wpuld be achieved.

Dream on, if they did build it (and you would have contributed) would you be able to afford a ticket?
In early 90s Durham County Council ploughed huge amounts into the building of a new County Cricket ground, paid for by local ratepayers. Since then they have been given several millions in grants (this is a private enterpise mind - 90% owned by Indians), you try and buy a ticket. Cheapest price for an international ticket for next year (already in high demand) - £60 - 75.
