    Default Niger & Russian coup

Just watching the news. Right across Africa especially in the former French colonies , looks like Russia is the new kid on the block. A tailor in Niger was being interviewed he is delighted to be making Russian flags which he can sell easily. Interesting times indeed.

Nice place to have a war between superpowers too. I don't think the Africans have thought about what happens when cuddling up to the likes of Russia, or China. When I say Africans, I mean those that dictate, not the man (or woman)in the street. mind you, Coup leaders have to get paid from somewhere.

And you honestly think that their new Colonial masters Russia and China are benign benefactors and not in for themselves. Rather than tankers you should have sailed on Loggers then you would have more to go with that chip on your shoulder about colonial masters and your inbred hate of the UK.

What brought that on Ivan? you get out of bed the wrong side this morning. No chips on my shoulders Ivan. You going to the Proms this year with your we union flag and join in the community singing of land of no hope or glory
Concerning the new colonial masters I am under no illusion they are in it for what they can get out of it , as said they have all that glorious colonial history to guide them along the road. Get over it Ivan the UK is now a little group of Islands off the coast of Europe.

    (1) You should start reading your own posts James

    (2) What's with the 'now' they always have been, that's a geographical and geological fact. Yes and I'm still proud to be part of them and of their past and the achievements/inventions which have benefitted mankind (please include the other 37+ known alleged genders in the cover of mankind, although it was probably 'man'-kind that pioneered the achievements)

Years ago (2011) we were in Botswana. Terrible roads ;I remember digging the truck out of the sand and then suddenly miles of beautiful tarmac.
    Wow! What happened here?
    The Chinese built it .
What did you pay for it ?
Nothing. They did it for free.
Wouldn't be anything to do with minerals, would it ?
    Just asking.

Martinique in 2013. Fantastic roads. EU money because Martinique is a French Department....

    Regards
    Brenda

I worked in Angola about ten years ago, it was the same there Chinese building roads and constructing buildings. I remember going to pick a guy up from the airport and there was a load of Chinese girls coming off the same flight found out from my driver that they were brought into the country as entertainment for the Chinese workers.

Thank you Brenda, you put it in perspective. The West as it is now called raped the African Countries for years but didn't improve anything, the Eastern Countries are now doing much the same but with huge improvements, unfortunately the Native Africans are eager to get on top
of their fellow citizens, so the ordinary people don't get to enjoy it.
