God's Rep in a hurry?
I see Arch Bishop Justin Welby has been done for speeding. From King Maker last Saturday to parting with a few quid on Thursday?
Justin Welby was ordered to pay £510 in total for exceeding a 20mph limit in the Kennington borough of Lambeth on October 2 last year, a court spokeswoman said.
The archbishop also now has three points on his licence after being caught by a speed camera in his Volkswagen Golf on the A3036 Albert Embankment.
He was convicted and sentenced at a private hearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday – the same day he condemned the Government’s plans to tackle the small boats crisis as “morally unacceptable and politically impractical”.
Maybe he should have kept his opinions to himself until after his speeding infringement was heard in court.
What speed was he doing ffs!! £510.00
Last time I got done it was £60 & 3 points or pay £90.00 and do a speed awareness course.
Being a Christain man I wonder if he is a music fan? Perhaps he was playing, A bat out of hell

He was doing 25mph in a 20 zone.
Thought the sentence was a bit harsh to be fair.
I must say I'm rather amazed he doesn't have a driver.

Re: God's Rep in a hurry?
We are a bit harsher here in Aus. The Archbishop of Brisbane and a former Governor General of Australia was sacked yesterday for something he did about fifteen years ago, protecting priests who were pedophiles. JUstice at last.

Re: God's Rep in a hurry?
Depends on which paper you read Des.
According to ours he stepped down.
Speeding some time ago at an alleged 83 in a 70 zone, $370 and 3 points.
But one council here in Melbourne now has a limit of 30klm, to protect the public you understand, not to raise revenue.
Oh look, another one just went flying past!!!
Happy daze John in Oz.

It is possible it's not his first offence, most places would have offered him a speed awareness course as he was not hugely over (most areas allow speed limit +10% + 2mph to allow for speedo tolerance), if you already had one in the previous three years then its not offered and fine plus points is automatic

Re: God's Rep in a hurry?
Apparently an administration error[s]! on his part, ie communication from the police was not acknowleged. As a Man of God.... worth a try I suppose

Re: God's Rep in a hurry?
The pedophiles have always been there Marian . I can remember at the age of about 11 sitting in a cinema when this man sat next to me and had his coat on his knee which partially covered mine as well . I felt his hand on my knee , so stood up and punched him in the side of the head . His eyes never left the screen and he just sat their immobile . A punch from an 11 year old would not have the effect as from an older person. I just moved further along a row of empty seats. We must have been more knowledgeable in those days . We knew where all the local misfits lived and gave them a wide berth. JS
