People seem confused as to why these young people are taking this action, it's not about "stopping all oil" - that is just silly. They are asking governments and the oil industry to stop opening up new oil and gas fields and invest in renewable energy. If you hadn't noticed, the whole of Canada is currently going up in smoke and Scotland has wildfires that have never occurred before, all due to global warming. We need to make some drastic changes to turn this dictation round or there will be nothing for our grandchildren to grow up into.

Who are these confused people oh wise one ?

Man is not responsible for the movement of the tectonic plates, man is not responsible for seismic waves, man is not responsible for volcanoes erupting, the planet will do whatever the planet wants to do, regardless of present day arrogant man thinking he can stop the planets cycle by any which way including stopping the use of oil and other fossil fuels. Geologists have found that in their drillings world wide fires have been occuring throughout the planets lifetime and the advent of climate change has been a factor from the planets inception. If man thinks he can stop the planet's normal cycle, then he is certainly confused as much as the young who think they can.

I think oil is running out fast anyway, it's all been sucked out. Lots of people made lots of money over the 200 years it was used, but now they still need to make loadsamoney from the public, and they (the fatcats) will decide the way forward. It'll be no good inventing fuel that cost us very little, so they need some complicated way of making vehicles that cost a fortune to buy, and eventually run.

More wild fires are being caused by lightening strikes now more than ever since records began. The reason there are more strikes is due to global warming the earth has warmed by 0.82 c since 1950. Temperature remained reasonable stable until 1950. Since then the earth temperature has been increasing by 0.2 degrees every decade and the curve is starting to trend sharper in recent years.
Well that is according tp these people

The bush fires in Canada are causing major problems for New York.
The smoke haze is so deep it has stopped solar panels from generating power.

As to climate change, something I know exists but not ,man made, it is part of a natural cycle.
Used now by many to make a fortune.

On cruise a few years back there was a Canadian scientist giving talks during sea days on the origins of Earth.
His theory, Eartge began as a ball of gasses in space, over time and many climate changes it became what it is today.

JS, no doubt the Baltic man is just looking at some data, maybe not equating it all though.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
