Re: Just stop Oil
Worked out of Bergen on a supply vessel John , think we were the only British ship that did ,think this was done as too many oil companies bye passing British ships for Norske in the British Sector. So was just to show bit of bulldust. However they made the stipulation that being a foreign vessel we had to use a pilot while their own vessels did not. The pilots were never in a rush to get us in and out , therefore the time lost was not beneficial to the charterers and the charter did not last too long . There is dirty work at the cross roads of any industry. Shipping in particular . Never knew however Norway and Sweden were one country until 1905. Just shows what a better education you had . Cheers JS

Re: Just stop Oil
Think I posted this before, but anyway.
I was watching some blokes working in Dagenham a few years ago. They were drilling deep into the ground by the Ford factory. I asked what it was about, and they said it was a survey, to discover the history of that area. They showed me several samples from different depths, covering maybe many thousands of years. One sample was from when the area was tropical, with teeth from crocodiles and even sharks. They reckoned the whole of London was probably under the sea at one time. They also told me about the samples from when it was all covered in very deep ice. They seemed to be proper people for doing that kind of thing, so I imagine it was not all bull****.

Trouble is James, finding one that's not made from man made material, like plastic. It's all part of the problem. I remember shopping in the old days, when it was all paper bags, but frozen food hadn't emerged then as a way of living. We also had local shops.

Re: Just stop Oil
John, I only found out about Norway/Sweden split in 1905 last hear when in Iceland.
But in Honisvarg, furthest north land area there is a center with all manner of info about the land, climate and any thing else you need.
Pity some of our 'Climate Change' scientists do not take a look there.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Just stop Oil
Just stop oil at best, they can be claimed to be dodgy. They are neither a charity nor a company yet surely not all their protesters can be volunteering, so where does the money come from to run such an organisation?. Most of it comes from a greeny millionaire who owns forest green football club and who also donates to the labour party.
They are, at present, disrupting London traffic by filling the roads with either slow walking or slow cycling, bringing traffic to a standstill.
I cannot agree with there ideals as I see them holding up banners and wearing clothes made from man made fibres and coloured using products from the petro chemical industry.

Re: Just stop Oil
Post 97, read that the angle of the earth's tilt is any where between 20 degrees and 24 degrees and this tit increases / decreases over a period of time. Currently the earth's has a tilt of just over 23 degrees.

Re: Just stop Oil
Near enough Vic 23.5 degrees , Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer .0r the furthest southerly and northerly declination in the year of the Sun . If the tilt wasn’t there you wouldn’t have climate change to argue about, part of our world would be in continuous darkness and part in continuous daylight , JS ...
