#62 Des I am fully expecting disturbances on Saturday and believe certain planned ones like throwing fireworks at the horses have already been uncovered. Myself I would turn a blind eye to any skulls being cracked open of the instigators of such. But no doubt there would be shouts of Police. Brutality . For those wishing the removal of the Monarchy being replaced by a peasant dictator , welcome to the Sudan and the many more like it. I still believe the British System is the best as it is ever going to get. The political scenario however could do with a shake up. Freedom of speech means just that for all. After the war I seem to recollect that even the communist party had a place at the polls in the scheme of things . I think the USA was the first to outlaw it , Why ? Other western countries seem to follow suit , you only outlaw something if you are afraid of it , does the word communism frighten you? It doesn’t me, if you believe in Democracy. That has been half the trouble that and putting the backs up of people who have different beliefs, it tends to make them fight back , like the Chinese the biggest insult to them is causing them loss of face . The Horn of Africa, for many generations money and food have been poured into it, all to no avail.
Still the people starve, no water but plenty of 'getting the leg over; looking at the population.
Lack of water being one of the most pressing problems.
It has a coast line so why no desalination plant to provide water???
Where does the money go??

As to the removal of certain persons from society,

Think I mentioned it before, but as a kid at school we gave a few pence every week for the poor African kids, they still do the same thing today. Over the years it must have amounted to trillions, but still those adds for money for kids in Africa are on the TV every day. Showing starving, thirsty kids, walking for miles to get dirty water. I don't believe those kids get any of the money spent on their needs. I believe it's all filched off into dodgy bank accounts, it must be, otherwise there would have been some kind of change.

There are loads of discussions on this site, unrelated to the Merchant Navy, the same as used to happen in the messroom, could be politics, women , money lots of subjects. If you look on the main site it lists all the areas you can post on. Surely when you were at sea, conversations were not all about work ?, pretty boring ship if thats all you discussed. kt
