Re: Walks free after rape of 13 year old
Just reading about Capital punishment in Singapore 33 different offences carry the death penalty including kidnapping.
They use a mtehod called the long drop, my mrs just said must be a Bungee jump lol:rolleyes:
As John says drug dealer took a trip this morning. They do them at Dawn. That was the first one topped this year.

Hi Rodney, I for one would vote for the death penalty to be brought back in certain circumstances and preferably by lethal injection. An adult[s] who deliberately sets out to kill another -gone. One who kills a child - gone, along with any partner who did not actively prevent it - gone. Drug barons - gone. Established Pedophile rings - gone. Pedophiles who groom - gone. For the low-lives who maime or torture children - gone......
Re your analogy of comparing the cost of weddings and the 'cost of putting a murderer behind bars for life'. Elaborate or otherwise Rodney we personally don't pay for anyones nuptials why on earth should Joe public pay for the upkeep of a murder, the buck stops with him - gone IMHO:)

So far this year 11 such terminations have been carried out.
But odd, this one on a Tuesday, usually on Friday.

HI Marian.
Couldn't get rid of the adds kept repeating, probably my Comp.
Malaysia has announced that they are ending the death penalty, the head of the Govt is the same lawyer that defended the two Australians that were hanged a few years ago for Drugs, one was Barlow, that's the trouble with getting a sob sister in charge of the Govt.

Re: Walks free after rape of 13 year old
Not so many years ago Singapore was said to be eliminating one just about every Friday at 0600 hours.
One some years back reported to be a female of around 70 years of age, involved in the drug trade.
But it is one of the safest, if not the most expensive countries there are.
Even dropping a cig butt on the ground can get you a hefty fine and some times a few weeks on 'holidays'.
Re: Walks free after rape of 13 year old
Just announced, 35 years ago today here in Oz the biggest ever murder.
Briant, killed some 30 plus in Tasmania in wild shoot out.
Still in prison, for life no parole, but the cost to the tax payer, millions.
Rope, very cheap in Bunnings.

Marion, with your excellent*command of the written English language and grammar*I'm sure you fully understand my analogy so I assume you are having a bit of fun on a slow, probably rainy day in dear old Jolly, but just on the off chance you genuinely do not understand my analogy and it genuinely*causes confusion I will explain:
"And when you look at the billions tossed, like confetti at a wedding, to countries around the world, what's the cost of putting a murderer behind bars for life... peanuts."
*
The United States gave $50 billion away in 2023 (it budgeted $38 billion, (but who's counting?...ME)) in foreign aid, who's complaining about a measly $12 billion override ME..
The United Kingdom. Gave (tossed away?) 13:3 billion pounds in 2015 (latest figure*I could find) in foreign aid. No idea what was budgeted, So, "fiddle di dee...there'll always be tomorrow."
Now Confetti are tiny particles of paper and are scattered by throwing them with abandon above a joyous newly married couple (rice is used more often in the USA (uncooked I'm really trying to make everything clear)). Usually, the only person who is unhappy at this quaint custom is the sweeper, or the priest when it is tracked into his church.
Foreign aid (like confetti) by both the UK and the USA is granted with no strings attached or any confirmation or strings on how it should be spent or should not be partially divided up by recipient African leaders, a sort of a prepaid pension plan at our taxpayer's expense.
*
In the case of the US. $12 billion shortfall I'm like the sweeper, pissed. For seven years I had to prepare annual budgets and five-year plans for the board of directors and my salary, and my bonus structure and employment longevity depended on the accuracy of achieving the budgetary claims. Budgets were also made in the monetary system of the countries we were doing business in, and then consolidated. If I produced the same budgetary performance as the US Gov did (a 24% increase in budgeted costs), I would have been out on my ear after the first year.
In the case of a UK USA combined total of approx. 54 billion Pounds the majority went to the African continent. I have not been to Africa for 30 years, I saw no improvement then*from the squalor I saw when ashore from the UCL ships in 1958, and I read of no difference today..."And the beat goes on".*
*
I've used a movie and a song lyric as analogical postscript; I trust I don't have to explain them.
Cheers, Rodney:cool:
Re: Walks free after rape of 13 year old
#57, Hi Rodney, Thank you for the clarification. Due to my emotions being heightened on the subject matter I misread your 'confetti' pun completely - hence my retort. My sincere apologies for offending you, that was certainly never my intention.
Thank you for the detailed figures of the 'billions' squandered on 'foreign aid' Not all of course but a dishonourable amount abused for sure.
Due to my abhorrence on bloodied violence - extreme or otherwise I still would elect for lethal injection personally. Marian.

No problem, Marion.
Found an interesting but macabre bit of info on the electric chair. Thomas Edison's first invention was the light bulb, his second was an electric chair and he sent it around the US and gave demonstrations in killing stray cats, dogs and even a monkey.
Cheers, Rodney

Very kind of him, my mum told me cats and dogs love warm places!
