As a deck man I have a rudimentary knowledge of boilers, but the photo of the boiler room brought back my close encounters of same when on a 1914 built coal fired trawler (H402) and as a spare was expected to do any job given, including feeding coal to the boiler, not a pleasant job on a bucking bronco. It may be much maligned progress when changing to oil, but I'm sure many appreciated that progress
