    Default SBS training

Article was first published in September this year but may be of interest to some.

A vessel thought to be used as a training and support vessel by the UK's elite naval special forces has been seen operating off the coast of Wales. SD Victoria has been operating in the Irish Sea and has entered Holyhead harbour.

The vessel has been photographed carrying inflatable raiding craft (IRC) as well as SBS “stealth boats”. It is operated by Hampshire-based Serco Marine Services as a training and support vessel for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines and has long been linked to the Special Boat Service (SBS).

North Wales Live reported that the vessel is the second largest ship in Serco’s 100-vessel fleet. The company declined to explain what it was doing off Anglesey. “We can’t comment on operational details,” said a spokesperson.
However there is speculation it is involved with Exercise Chameleon, a bi-annual special force training operation. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed it is running 24-hour flying missions across much of the UK as part of Chameleon, including in the skies above Gwynedd, Powys and “Clwyd”.

The round-the-clock training exercise ends on September 16. It is said to include the use of Hercules aircraft to drop items and supplies to ships. Boat watchers have spotted SD Victoria off Anglesey’s north west coast on multiple occasions in recent weeks.

Possibly training to stop the illegal small boats crossing the channel.

Doubt it Louis , they probably just need to visit a few bars in Calais and encourage a few of the Albania mafia to return home to Tirana.

Stealth boats so called , have been on the go for the past 40 years to my knowledge. All this talk about battery cars etc. is old hat. 40 years ago the first you would of known about an SBS person was when you felt the barrel of a firearm pressed into the back of your neck. Their approach was silent as regards their approach as the outboards were battery driven. JS

There was one case in Shields years ago I heard about but was during the Teddy Boy era , maybeCappy can remember it. But this little nonscript bloke got himself involved in a fight with a couple of them , There was court case about. It but cant remember the results , he put his finger in one of the so called hard cases mouth and tore half his cheek off. Turned out he was a member of the Special Forces in this case the SAS . I can imagine the victim if he was capable of doing so shouting fight fair you dirty basket. They aren’t trained that way , they train to win and win hard . I think have said before the fittest one I ever saw was an American Seal , a hundred push ups on each arm was his usual before breakfast was his usual start to the day. Cheers JS ......
Keith if your interested in martial arts just google Peter Sabourn self defence training centre should come up about the different aspects , if it doesn’t will look for the proper address . JS

I read a book written by an SAS soldier who served in Ireland during the troubles, Thatcher tried to stop the publication. Shows what they will do even to their own kind. Had a big pit dug in a forest clearing anyone they caught crossing the border guilty or not was shot and dropped in, then a frontend loader covered that part up as there were more to come, mind you it was tit for tat.
