I agree entirely Des. Just about anywhere you go, all you see are people scrolling on their phones. Ive never subscribed to any online media platforms but that’s just me. I have no interest in reading what others think or do and no desire to tell anyone what I’m doing. And since retiring 2 years ago I’ve given up attempting to have any level of intellectual conversation with any of the younger generation, and sadly, some older. But there’s an upside to that too, a peaceful existence devoid of any frustration.

Well the good news is that upon her appearance in court, she has been remanded in custody for three weeks for a psychological assessment prior to sentencing in December, the judge advising that she is looking at anything from four months to four years depending upon assessment. (maximum is now 10 years under a new law called 'Desecrating a monument'). Hopefully it will be found that her faculties are in order and the four years will ensue. Apparently she has a history of unforgiveable acts.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
Des mate you are spot on with that one.
Social media may have it's good points, though I do not use it, but it is corrupting the way the younger generation think and act.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
One consolation is the fact that she has dropped out of medical school. Can you imagine a person with her mentality working within the health industry? Bring back the stocks in the town centre or reopen the Lunatic Asylums and incarcerate these moral delinquents for life.

Mind you they could sentence her to six months in Iran to help with a real demo.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
I am of the opinion that for serious crimes such as murder, rape etc the suspended sentence should be brought back.
Pentonville prison did a very good job with the one they had there.
No complaints from those who used it.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
I would bring back both corporal and. capital punishment John . Instead they are trying to make it a crime. To chastise your own child by smacking them . Watched it all on tv tonight those advocating such are the head shrinkers of dubious sex and probably childless themselves so are well skilled to. Tell a mother who has half a dozen kids on how to rear them. Apart from becoming a bunch of pansies we are becoming a bunch of traumatised kids who have been smacked in early childhood . JS

Re: Suggestion for punishment
A mother who has a half a dozen kids is either very stupid , a devout RC or a sex maniac. My attitude is breed what you can feed.
I never had to or felt the need to lift a hand to my kids. Those who did were likely brought up by parents who believed in the spare the rod and spoil the child so got the belt now and again.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
A mother with half a dozen kids all by the name of David
How do you tell them apart?
Just call them by their surnames.
There was a time few years back when our gov was offering some $6000 to have a baby, the plan was one for mum, one for dad and one for the country.
Great, all the unmarried mothers living off the state benefits for years after.
