    Hi Keith
I read a few years ago that the most visitors to see the Queens Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London where Americans, these days after reading some of the posts from the UK the British can't afford to go there.

My wife got to see inside Buck house some years ago, very interesting.
But now at Windsor castle to see the grave of the Queen will cost you some 28 GBP. a lot of unhappy campers there.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

The best thing I can remember of it John ,was in a car with the wife and a friend driving through the gate into the courtyard and being saluted by the uniformed police constable at the gate. Much preferable than being arrested I suppose. JS
Was arrested in a Dundee fish and chip shop by breaking up a fight between a married couple he was starting to knock her around . Was successful, and immediately they both turned on me , lesson learned never get between a man and his wife. The police arrived and I was invited into the back of the van where fortuanetley there was no hungry Alsatian. They went back into shop to take statements and came back out with the two real culprits and I changed seats and went back into the chippie to pick up my wares , he even charged me for them . The police apologised profusely at the time , so later on getting saluted by them I considered quite proper . Thought of giving them 2 fingers but then thought there maybe cameras around which would catch me out, so just gave a small acknowledging wave of the hand very disdainfully of course. Cheers JS

#25. Well, John I never made it to Buck-House, but Her Majesty came to visit us for the Silver Jubilee. It was an interesting experience at the time. I have photo of the visit, was never sure whether to call it a Royal Flush or a hand of Bridge. Sad thing now as far as I know there are only three left. Ray McCrohon, Lord Kirkhill and myself.

Yes Bill Even Albert Whittles is dead . She must of been having an off day in my case or maybe it was cleaning day at Buck house as sent her son and his then wife , Good job it wasn’t the Dundee fish and chip shop or I would never of got out of the back of that police limousine. Although both ladies were well liked they are now gone, but will always be remembered with fondness at different levels. More so by by some than others . Should imagine the whole office was on board that day led by Mz. Milne .? Hope you put a clean boiler suit on probably supplied by Seaforth ?
Doesn’t seem so long ago when you think back. Cheers JS

    Yes, very sad indeed.
He was a young Welshman from Bridgend and was, if not the youngest, was one of the youngest recruits to join the Household Cavalry.
    May he R.I.P.

    JS Yr.# 25---re Chippies,marital arguments,false arrest etc-you put so much into your posts !

Waving-salutes,and waving -one or two fingers or a hand or whatever...

I will always remember, whenever I see Royal personages waving from a plexiglas bullet proof(one hopes) dome of a burgundy and black limousine and this is not off topic because it has a Royal connection----I will always remember that front cover of Private Eye depicting Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon in their aforementioned limousine-at a time when their marriage was heading for that rocky shore....

Margaret ; " Tony, what's all this about us rowing in public?"
Snowdon: " Shut up you fat bitch and keep smiling !"
